The best automatic vacuum cleaner Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek autonomous vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaners best that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd imagine from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
