WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of the item level upgrade by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade items gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item upgrade that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item level upgrade's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe.
