Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

In most cases, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade gear because of their requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item that they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. There are many different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades give armor a greater number of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item upgrader mod can get will be identified by the name of the upgrade, as illustrated in the table below.

A few upgrades are magical or a combination of technology and magic, which is shown by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Weapons

In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out by a different identical jewel without destroying it. You can only replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

It is typical to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and create a surface harder than steel so that repeated friction from pivots does not cause damage to them.

In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants a small but useful bonus in speed of movement and the ability to escape. After that, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in a similar fashion to how the player obtains armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat.
