UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors get worn out over time and will need to be replaced. It is essential to be able to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external door handles and locks doors usually needing different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder you choose is vital. It is based on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. For instance, exterior doors should be fitted with a more secure cylinder while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can increase security, for instance, anti-drill or anti bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to each end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is essential that it is not too long.

The design of many modern cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to minimize attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a different direction. This will help to deflect the attack and ensure your doors are secure.

Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and simpler method to gain access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located inside the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to help return your multipoint lock handles to their original position after usage. There was a time when these types of handle didn't have a spring built into them, and as a result, they are more likely to slide or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is removed. This component is the best way to fix this problem. It also prevents your door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position, as they are difficult to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with sprung multipoint lock. They will not fit unsprung handles, and you will have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. They have a square cut-out that accommodates an 8mm spindle and they are supplied individually.
