World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

Item upgrades allow players to increase the level of weapons and armor that are equippable. This boosts the effectiveness of the equipment, and also sometimes adding buffs or rerolling an affix.

Cost

The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to increase the level of weapons, armor and trinkets. This process is largely identical to that of gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor however instead of using the currency appropriate to the task players must visit an NPC to upgrade their items to complete the process.

Upgrades to items can be costly, especially when it is related to armor and weapons. Depending on the upgrade track, each step up in level of the item could cost several Valorstones and crests. The total cost could be prohibitive for players who don't have the funds or aren't willing to grind them.

The game lets you play a reroll of an upgraded item with a special tool in the menu of items. This option replaces the upgraded item with an unlevel 1 version that offers different bonuses. This can be useful to gain better results on items that have already been upgraded. However, it could be a waste of time.

Requirements

It is important to remember that the rerolled item will not have its original level or any of its wasted resources.

Rerolling upgraded items is only possible if the item was upgraded was an Epic, Rare, or Unique. Extraordinary items can also be rerolled, but the original stats are replaced by a flat-rate bonus. This means that rerolling an item that is Rare item will result in a Normal version of the same type, whereas rolling an Epic item will result in an elite version of the same type.

Players can also retrieve upgraded items by using an upgrade extractor or salvaging with a high-tier salvage kit. Glyphs placed on gathering tools are able to be swapped.

By selecting the item and pressing the green button, which has an arrow that rerolls, a player can reroll it to create an upgradeable item. This will change the layout of the game and allow players to select up to six items to be used for "recycling". The item will be replaced by a level 1 item. Rerolled items won't retain their status or the amount of resources used to upgrade them.

The highest level of upgrade an item can achieve is determined by its tier and the quality.
