WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.

The item level upgrade upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item upgrader kit level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will show a preview of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
