Upgrades give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade item also increases a random substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll an exact version.

Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using a The button will show the item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance.
