Find the battery hatch, and make sure it is set to "open." Use a flathead screwdriver, coin or a similar tool to turn the hatch off. Then, carefully remove the battery from its socket by lifting it on the side that is closest to the key-ring loop. Use rubber gloves to protect the electronic contact surfaces.

After the battery has been removed, place the new one in its socket. Make sure that the positive side is facing up and that it is seated in all the clips. Slide the cover toward the key-ring until it becomes loose, and it falls off. Take off the cover to reveal the hidden mechanical key blade.
