Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver, even in tight places.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn and 3 year old and found it coped well with cobbles, grass rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt sturdy to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need occasionally pumping) have suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my kids.

Another thing to consider is the seat size and shape. You will want it to be big enough for your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline for them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies have the option of lying flat that allows your child to lie flat and face you, while other buggies only allow a face-to-parent one.

Larger wheels mean that your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - ideal for off-road buggies. Additionally, they make it easier to manoeuvre the pushchair through narrow spaces. Certain three-wheeled buggies have swivel wheels on the front to help you navigate tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock for greater speed and stability. This is also helpful when you crash into the roots of a tree or stray kerb as the front wheel will rise up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.

A majority of 3 wheel pushchair off road wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which allows them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They're also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, and you'll require a repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.

Fortunately, many models come with small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.

Easy to maneuver

One of the primary benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it's much easier to maneuver particularly with a child in tow. The way they are built means that the front wheels spin on a dime and are extremely easy to manoeuvre which makes them perfect for tricky terrain such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3 wheel reversible stroller (more about Bookmark 4you)-wheeler with her toddler, and she wrote: "The Terrain is a delight to navigate on rough terrain. The front swivel wheel was especially helpful." I was also amazed by the way it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. I found it to be extremely stable when driving downhill or over uneven ground."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel pushchair sale wheel buggy might make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something to keep in mind when your home is one of the cities. If this is a concern, a 4-wheel buggy might be better for you.
