iRobot Combo Review

Combo is iRobot's very first mop-and vacuum robot, and is the company's best-looking. The brushed aluminum top and iRobot Logo are more classy than the loud designs of competitors.

The iRobot Home application is used to guide and set up your robot. The app gathers usage data and maps of your home, which include furniture and obstacles. Maps and information about images are only shared with you if you've opted-in.

It's a mop

The Combo irobot, a very smart mopping robot, has all the intelligence of the superb Roomba J7+ and adds a water reservoir onboard and mopping pads and a robot arm that can lift and lower the pad. It can complete a large deal of work in just 111 minutes before it runs out of power and returns to its base station to recharge.

The combo model is equipped with the iRobot Home app so that you can start or stop cleaning runs. It's also a stylish robot, sporting matte black plastic that doesn't show dust or fingerprints and a brushed aluminum top piece with a small iRobot logo.

It does an excellent job of vacuuming, and has no issues traversing over large area rugs and transition strips between flooring surfaces. It is able to pick up fine dust that other robotic vacuums don't. However, it's not good in mowing. It won't remove dried milk stains unless you send it a few times.

irobot vacuum mop's own Braava Jet M6 mopping machine, which is available in combination with the J7 Plus often for less than the price of the combo Combo is much more effective at this and other tough tasks. It can even clean up ketchup and wine spills, but I would not recommend it following any liquids with a high amount of sugar.

It's an air vacuum

It's also among the most attractive robot vacuums, with a smooth and sleek top piece that doesn't show dust or fingerprints as easily as other models. The small dustbin and water tank of this vacuum are simple to open, but they are not the most spacious. The Combo J7+ comes with all the smarts you'd expect from iRobot. It has maps and obstacle avoidance maps that function efficiently and quickly. The mopping arm is the thing that makes this model stand out from the rest of its competitors. The mop pad is placed on top of the robot vacuum. However, when it detects a surface that requires mopping the pad is dropped under and behind the Lightweight Robot Vacuum vacuum. This is a significant improvement over other robot vacuums which require you to take out mop pads from carpets or hard floors manually. It is possible to turn off the entire unit to mop.

It's an electric charging station.

Place your combo irobot series (escortexxx.ca) on the charging station, and then align the metal contacts on the base. The charging station is easy to set up and operates well. In my tests it took just a few minutes to charge and then make noise when completed. When the Combo Irobot is fully charged, you can start mapping runs in the app to help it understand your home. You can also mark certain items such as cords for lamps, as permanent avoidances in the app. You can also connect Alexa or Google Assistant to your robot so that you can use voice commands for it to navigate around your home.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots utilize acoustic and onboard sensors to discover the kind of floor they're navigating and the objects that are in your home. It then combines this information with maps of your surroundings and information from the robot's onboard camera to create a personalized cleaning plan for each space. It's intelligent enough to avoid your couch, lamp cords and other items you want to preserve. Of course, like any connected device there are concerns regarding the security of this information. However, iRobot says it will never sell customer data and all images are taken with customers' permission.
