iRobot Combo Review

Combo is the first mop-and-vacuum robot, and it's the most attractive model of the company. Its aluminum top piece brushed and iRobot logo are more sophisticated than the loud designs of rivals.

The irobot roomba mop and vacuum Home application is used to help you set up and guide your robot. The app gathers data on usage and maps of your home, including furniture and obstacles. Maps and image data are only shared with iRobot when you sign up.

It's a mop

The Combo irobot, a very intelligent mopping robot, takes all the capabilities of the fantastic best rated roomba vacuum J7+ and adds a water reservoir onboard as well as mopping pads and a robot arm which can lift and lower the pad. It can accomplish quite a bit of work in 111 minutes before running out of juice and returning to its base station for recharge.

The combo model comes with the best irobot Home app so that you can start or stop cleaning runs. It's also a nice-looking robot, sporting matte black plastic that doesn't show fingerprints or dust and a brushed aluminum top piece with a small iRobot logo.

It is a fantastic tool of vacuuming, with no issue traversing large area rugs or transition strips between flooring surfaces. It can even pick-up fine dust that other robotic vacuums don't. However, it's not well in the field of cutting. It's not able to remove dried milk stains, unless you've sent it a few times.

IRobot's own Braava Jet M6 mopping robot, which is available as a bundle with the j7 Plus frequently for less than the price of the combo Combo is much more effective in this, and other difficult tasks. It is also able to clean up ketchup and wine spills, but I would not recommend it to be used after any liquids that have a high amount of sugar.

It's an air vacuum

It's among the more attractive robot vacuums. The top piece is smooth and doesn't display dirt or fingerprints as easily as some competitors. Its tiny combo water tank and dustbin are easy to open and close but they're not the greatest in terms of capacity. The Combo j7+ has all the smarts you'd expect from iRobot. This includes maps and obstacle avoidance maps that operate efficiently and quickly. However, it's the mopping arm that makes this a standout model in its category. The mop pad is kept on top of the robot vacuum. When it detects a surface which requires mopping, the pad is lowered under and behind the robot vacuum. This is a major improvement over other robot vacuums which require you to take out the mop pads to clean hard floors or carpets manually. You can even shut off the entire unit for mopping.

It's an electric charging station

When you're ready to charge your Combo Irobot, simply place it on the changing station and align its metal contacts with those on the base. The charging station is easy to set up and performs well. During my tests it took the robot just a few minutes to charge before it would make an audible sound when it was finished. After the Combo irobot is charged, you can start an exploration run within the app to help it understand your home. The app also allows you to mark certain objects as permanent avoidances, like lamp cords. You can also connect Alexa or Google Assistant to your robot so that you can use the voice commands to navigate around your home.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots make use of acoustic as well as onboard sensors to discover the type of floor it's encountering, as well as the objects in your home.
